If you are anything like me, you find a pair of cute kid or baby sunglasses and you snatch them up for your precious little one to keep their eyes shaded and to take some cute pictures of them in those sunglasses too!
Well I have also found that 30 seconds after I hand my 3 year old daughter these ADORABLE sunglasses, I end up hearing a ‘SNAP!’ in the back seat of my car and find this in her lap…
I finally got fed up and started searching for something better. I mean, there had to be sun glasses out there that would not break so easily right!!!
And you know what I found just that! The best freaking sunglasses in the whole world! The company that makes these is called RO-SHAM-BO and their sunglasses can be bent, chewed, twisted, and folded in any direction! It is fantastic because I can let my kids be kids and not have to worry about buying 16,000 pairs of sunglasses that will be broken in a few days.
I was surprised to see how inexpensive these are as well. For a baby pair of polarized, oh ya did I mention they are POLARIZED TOO!!!, they cost $30 and Juniors are $35 for Polarized lenses. I was paying SO MUCH MORE than this just replacing my kids sunglasses when we went to the zoo! So you can imagine I was so excited when I saw this.
But I had to try them out, because I never recommend something I haven’t tried out first.
So I ordered my own as well as some for my kids to truly test the durability of these sunglasses. I got them in the mail in an adorable pink box and handed them to my kids and you can guess that they manipulated these sunglasses to kingdom come! And guess what?! They still look brand new!
I love mine because my son LOVES to rip glasses off of my face so my sunglasses and regular glasses were broken a lot too.
RO-SHAM-BO also makes prescription glasses as well, so if your little one has glasses or you are like me and have a child who loves to rip yours off of your face, then these are the glasses for you too. (The discount code will not work with the prescription glasses.)
So what are you waiting for?! Go check out these sunglasses and let me know what you think too! These are great for kids of all ages as well as those with disabilities who tend to be a little more rough with things.
Standing in the store with a screaming, hungry, fussy baby is no fun...Now add a screaming, fussy, "pay attention to me!" toddler to the mix...
WELCOME TO HELL.
Everyone is staring.
Half wondering what you will do and half judging you for the fact that you can't seem to get your act together in the middle of the store.
But how do you even begin to handle this type of thing? How do you communicate with your unconsolable teary eyed toddler, while you are trying to feed or pacify your screaming infant?
The answer may seem strange, but it is American Sign Language.
You May Also Like:
You may be wondering why AMERICAN Sign Language and you can read more about that in "What is the difference between American Sign Language and Just Plain Sign Language", but let's get back to those screaming kiddos.
If you have no American Sign Language (ASL) experience, you are stuck trying to do whatever it takes to finish your shopping trip, while pacifying screaming children or to just get up and leave because it is not worth the trouble to try and get through a simple shopping trip with screaming kids.
This is where the beauty of ASL enters! With just a few signs you and your little one can start to understand each other more effectively and efficiently!
For those of you with infants who are not verbal yet ASL allows you to communicate before they can speak and allows your little one to tel you what they need before they can voice it to you.
Now for those of you with older children, ASL is still an important language to learn because if you have ever had a toddler you know that they are not the best at expressing their emotions, but tend to lean towards screaming or the dreaded tantrum in order for you to figure out what they need, or want.
With American Sign Language that grey area is taken out allowing parent and child to communicate better before and during a tantrum to help relinquish the effects and longevity of the tantrum.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to easily ask your child if they were tired, hungry, thirsty, or mad? Do you think this would make your life easier?
Well let me assure you that it can!
I am so sure that you will be loving the transition in your life when using American Sign Language that I have created a free 2 week Email course that will help you get started and discover all of the wonderful things ASL can offer you and your family! Did I mention that you also get a fun intro into Sensory play?
So what exactly do you get in this 14 day Email Course?
You will learn 2 signs every other day, and get a sensory activity to practice those signs on the other days.
This will help your little one and you solidify the signs in your mind by seeing saying and doing. By using all of these learning methods you will actually retain what you learn in this free course instead of having it only hang out in your brain for 72 hours.

This is only the first step to learning American Sign Language though.
Vocabulary is wonderful, but remember how I said you should do it right the first time? Well you are going to want to follow up with more language structure so that you and your child can actually communicate in American Sign Language an not just know a lot of vocabulary.
Just like teaching your child Spanish instead of Spanglish, Sign Language takes work, but it will be beneficial for years to come for you and your child.
So what are you waiting for!? Get started on this amazing journey to learn all about American Sign Language!

Now that my daughter is getting older, I am finding out just how much girls like clothes… and let me just tell you it is a lot!
It is crazy to see how the sweet baby that popped out of me almost 3 years ago is now asking for specific princess dresses and has her set few favorite pairs of clothes.
This kid literally has more clothes than I ever dreamed was possible (thanks Nana!), and I hear myself saying on a regular basis, “Why don’t they make this in my size?!”
One of those cute things I found myself saying that about this week is the new jeans at Crazy8! They are so stinkin’ cute and they have them in 7 different washes!
I am personally partial to this adorable pair of jeggings that my daughter will be wearing with all of her cute summer tops and going into fall with the warm colors because they match everything! And you can’t beat the price!
I have also been finding out that my daughter doesn’t quite get the concept of money, so anything she sees is fair game whether we are running through the Nordstrom entrance at the Mall to get to the Disney Store, or we are in the clearance section at Target; price is not her issue.
This is why I love Crazy8 as well! I can walk into the store, buy a few COMPLETE outfits and not be broke for the next months from clothing my children. My daughter loves them and asks for particular outfits, or several throughout the day (AHHH LAUNDRY!), to dress up in because they are cute and comfy for her to dance around the house in. The clothes also last through the mud pies and rolling in the grass that we are all of a sudden obsessed with doing every time we go to the park.
(Like literally this kid could play in the dirt ALL STINKIN’ DAY!)
Did I also mention that all of the summer stuff is up to 75% off?! Talk about buying for next year! And since it is still unbearably hot here in Colorado we may be wearing these styles into November because Colorado is on PMS again with the weather.
Any-who, I would love to see what styles your kids are OBSESSED with as school is getting ready to start!
Snap a pic and tag me on Instagram in your favorite Crazy8 outfit at #imaginationsigning!
A bundled up sweet baby is laying against your chest as the doctor explains that your child may never hear. All the lullabies you sang as a child, the sound of water, your voice…They may never hear.
You are in shock and denial that this perfect little baby you are staring at will not have all the ability that a normal baby would.
But, what is “normal” anyways?
As a parent, allow yourself to grieve through your child not having the ability to hear. It does not mean that you love them any less or that they are any less the love of your life! It just means that you are human and your idea of what was going to happen didn’t so feeling the way you do doesn’t make you a bad parent.
You will experience the different levels of grief with this new change, which include denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. These will not manifest in any given linear order because every person is different with different ideas and experiences.
You are probably asking yourself what you are going to do now because everything you planned has changed, but let me assure you that is okay!
Your child can still have a full, regular life being Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing.
There are so many Deaf individuals who have made an impact in the world!
For example, Rachel Mazique is a Deaf English Writing teacher and Miss Deaf America Ambassador, actress Marlee Matlin, and singer Paul Stanley from KISS was even born Deaf in one ear!
This is just naming a few of the amazing people that just happen to be Deaf.
Being Deaf or having hearing loss at some level is not a life sentence.
I MEAN EVEN MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR IS DEAF!
Your child can be anything they want to be! There will just be a bit of a learning curve as you learn to do it differently than other parents around you.
That is why I started Imagination Signing. I want to be a resource for you and your family to have easy accessibility to everything you need to learn American Sign Language, talk about the issues and feelings you are having, and give you valuable information that can make your life easier!
Here you can take online courses, print out workbook material, and use sensory play to play and bond with your child.
I am here to help you! And I have a brand new community here for you too! Whether you have decided to approach teaching your child whole language, just ASL, or ASL with a Cochlear Implant this is a safe place to ask questions and not be judged.

Colors, Colors! My daughter tends to say that a lot these days because she LOVES to color…On EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE! She also loves signing with me and enjoys when I sign her favorite songs or parts of Frozen (That I could pretty much quote to you at this point) that she is rather fond of.
But I was thinking the other day, “What a great way to integrate sign language into our everyday life with coloring!” So I created these lovely coloring books of capital and lowercase letters and numbers along with the sign for each letter and number.
Your child will have fun coloring in all of the letters, while you show them the hand shapes for each letter! This is such an easy way to enforce the alphabet and get your little one signing at the same time!
A fun game that you can play while talking about the letter signs is to encourage your child to find something that starts with a certain letter such as doll, cat, dog, baby, etc. Show them the letter sign for that object or, for older children, have them show you the letter sign.
Children 0-2 Years
Have your child find an object such as a doll
Ask them to pick it up or point to it
Tell them what the object is, what letter it starts with, and sign that letter
Have your child find an object such as a doll
Ask them what letter the item starts with and to sign the letter
(the more you practice this, the easier it will be)
Have fun with this! Talk about what sound the letter makes or how many toys equal a certain number. You will be surprised how many of these concepts your little one picks up as you do these activities together.
I hope you enjoy these and if you have any other coloring book ideas or things you would like to see on the blog comment below!
Fisher Price Think ; Learn Code-A-Pillar Gift Set
With the need to understand coding in this day and age this is a great toy for this Christmas. For children with autism sequencing, organizing, and prioritizing can either be very easy or very difficult. For both sides of the equation this toy is a fun way to reinforce that like or help your child learn the importance and skills of sequencing through play. And who doesn’t like making things move in all sorts of directions? This will be a hit for everyone in the family!
Little Tikes Big Waffle Block Set
Building things takes concentration and fine motor skills that some children with autism need help with. These blocks are easy o assemble and reassemble to make a fort, house, city, or whatever else your child can imagine. This also will help your child to communicate with you and other children and caregivers to create team work that will get to the end goal.
Melissa & Doug Self-Correcting Letter and Number Wooden Puzzles Set With Storage Box
The early years of teaching letters and numbers can be frustrating, especially when your child is not interested in it. These puzzles from Melissa and Doug encourage play and learning by having puzzle pieces that only fit with their corresponding piece. Children will have to go on a hunt to find the right pieces with the correct number, letter, or image in order to complete the mini puzzle. This toy is also a great fit for working on fine motor skills and patients.
Fisher Price Loving family Exclusive Holiday Dollhouse
I love pretend play! There are so many things that children can do and learn from pretending. Unfortunately, much pretend play has been lost do to TV and technology. These things are great, but pretending can be so much more beneficial for children. With the Fisher Price Doll House Series, you can bring back the pretend play which will allow you and other caregivers the opportunity to role play situations that your child needs help in, is afraid of, or is going to be new. There is a plethora of uses for therapy with this toy as well.
Little Tikes Go Green! Playhouse and Little Tikes Garden Table, Kids Play Table
What better way to talk about cause and effect than to discover how things grow! By pretending and role playing your child can learn how their actions effect the world around them. This will bring up great talking points about behavior and how to handle other people while your child plays.
